My First Effort...

Photobucket

I decided to try making my own wine at a local shop a couple of months ago. They called yesterday to say it was ready for bottling. Here it is as it gets the label added. After this I put a black shrink wrap over the cork and it was done. In less than an hour I was on my way home with 30 bottles. It will be another six months before it has aged enough to drink. I am quite pleased with myself so far!

We made wine at home one year. Unfortunately we kept sampling it before it had aged properly so we had nothing left when it was supposed to taste good.

Did you get to pick and squish the grapes in bare feet too.

Loved the previous photos, especially the fox ... Reynard makes the males sound as distinguished as they look*!*

We've been making our own plonk for about 5 years now to save money. I think it works out to about 3 bucks a bottle. I don't serve it to guests though, most of my friends are wine snobs. We stick to white mostly a Riesling since that's what we drink. I did a Merlot once and wasn't too happy. The Valpolicella turned out nicely though must say. Enjoy the fruits of your labours...ciao

I've never heard of a shop that would let you do that. Interesting and I'm laughing at Jan's comment!

Jennie! I'm curious as to how your own tastes! Wine making is quite the art..generations passed down..so I learned while at the vineyards in Italy & France last summer.
