Karen at Scraps of Mind has a blog which I find very informative for more than just scrapbooking. She included links to other sites with free scrapbooking bits and pieces as well as her Challenge - to create a scrapbook page about myself. I decided to give it a shot and Karen has been offering encouragement all along the way. (With thanks also to Digi Debz at Scrap Finder Freebies for the floral medallion, ribbon, frame and tag I used on the final page.)
I ended up missing the Challenge deadline as I had to teach myself more about using Photoshop Elements in order to begin. This was what I was supposed to be doing at the cottage last weekend, but didn't really make much headway.
This weekend was a different story though. I worked my way through a couple of tutorials to try a get a handle on layering. Then I played with a couple of filters and colour swatches. I really did not complete the Challenge which was to create a page that was About Me because I got sidelined when I started colourizing an old baby picture of me that I had scanned. My Challenge result is the last photo!
First step:Finding a baby picture from the old photo album somewhere in the basement and scanning it.
Second step:Remove the colour and change it to a black and white photo.
Many, many, many steps later:
Tired but pleased with my efforts, I ended up with my very first digital scrapbook page!! On the whole, I am happy but already see some things I wish I had done differently. Oh well, next time!

Now I am going to have to figure out what the filters are all about! LOL

Jen you are amazing!!
Taking the trouble to master the PSE learning curve to get this layout done for the Challenge is totally awesome. And the layout you've created is brilliant. I love how you've taken us on the journey of it's creation.
You are a Star!
Oh, those littel rosy cheeks you added were adorable!
I have to go and check this site. It sounds interesting. You are doing a great job and that also inspires me to try.
That turned out cute. My daughter does digi-scrap booking but, I have been too afraid to try. Maybe I will give it a go now. Thanks for stopping by my blog and all of your sweet comments. the same goes for you too!
I think you did a terrific job on that scrapbook page! I don't have Photoshop but heard what a great programme it is if you can figure it out! lol Now that you're getting the hang of it, there will be no limits to what you can do:-) xox
You can do some amazing things with photos these days ...
Hi you don't know me but your nodding portrait kind of drew me here. I was at Tea & Margaritas when you took me away here ...
What lovely childhood photos as well! Mine seem awfully bland and characterless compared to the ones other people post up on the net ... or is that just my own illusion ... I don't know.
BTW I'm at http://gledwood2.blogspot.com if you want to drop by you're most welcome!
See you later maybe! All the best

Oh My! I'm so proud of you!! Your first digi page is awesome. I adore your photo and you did a great job on your page. Hard to tell it is your first one. I owe you an email and hope to reply soon. This week my hubby returned to work half days so it has been catch up week with my work. Lots of kits to upload to the store and working on a new one. xoxo
